The height of the golf season also is the peak period of activity for the invasive Asian longhorned. Since arriving in the US 15 years ago, it has been blamed for destroying more than 70,000 hardwood trees in parts of the Northeast and Midwest. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is seeking help in detecting the beetle in hopes of preventing its spread. |
